Hanger Organization – DIY

I was cleaning the ole’ craft room and became overwhelmed with the amount of “stuff” –  my husband has another word for it, starts with c, ends with p.  Short on budget and time, I visited the small metal parts morgue in our garage (drawer full of miscellaneous hardware) for reinforcements.  Using a few hangers and recyclables that had “nested” in said craft room, I frankensteined the below contraptions.  I hope you find them useful!

Ribbon Holder

Remove rod and clips from hanger by pushing toward one cradle then the other.  Insert ribbon and reattach.  Done!

Take a velvet pant hanger and remove first and third rod with wire cutters. Cut remaining  rod at end joint.  Drill two holes on each side of the cut.  Insert large spools and create a bow between holes to secure.  Use bottom rod for unspooled ribbon (velvet’s texture keeps it from creeping over) use the  rest of the hanger for shorter recycled ribbon.  Colors and dimensions are easy to eyeball.

Use a standard thick plastic hanger and snap on small S-hooks.  The hooks fit snuggly preventing a pile-up.

I repurposed a gift wrap tube and packing styrofoam from Christmas for this.  Make sure styrofoam is dense and at least 4 inches high – this creates a very stable base.  Insert tube into center of styrofoam.  Done!
